Young Champs to Participate in Sanix Cup 2024

RFYC will participate in the Sanix Cup in Japan starting March 13th.

This will be the Young Champs' second time participating in the tournament after last season's outing.

A key focus area for Coach Robert Roelofsen will be improving on last season's showing, where the Young Champs were soundly beaten in all their games.

"The great thing is being able to play against such high quality teams. That itself is a big learning for all our players. But now we take the next step and show that we are not just going there to make up the numbers."

The tournament is one of Asia’s biggest competitions for school going children and features some of the leading teams from Japan, including youth teams from some leading J-League clubs.

The Young Champs will kick off their campaign on March 13 against Sagan Tosu, and face National Champions Ichiritsu Funabashi and Izuka High School, Champions of the Fukuoka Prefecture, on March 14 and 15 respectively.

Here's wishing our Young Champs the very best in the land of the rising sun!

The final two games will be decided based on the teams' performance in the tournament.
